The MTE, one of the largest communities of tennis fanatics in the Philippines, partnered with Palawan Pawnshop to bring to its followers the MTE-Palawan Tennis Tournament 2024, a competitive and class-based contest for beginners and intermediate players.

The team tournament format of the 2024 MTE features teams of eight players that will battle other teams for the championship. This is one of the most anticipated parts of the sporting competition. In the photo are Filheights Tennis Club, Southside Aces, and Palo-Palo G teams.

“What started as just a Facebook group for like-minded tennis enthusiasts in Metro Manila has now grown into a community of over 18,000 members all over the country and even overseas. Madami sa followers namin, newbies lang at now ay sumasali na sa iba’t ibang tournaments,” said Roland Martinez, one of the founders of MTE.

Eric Orolfo, also one of the founders of MTE and a tennis coach himself, said what they started has now grown into a big community of tennis enthusiasts of beginners and intermediate players.

“Bukod sa magandang sports ito para sa health natin, dumadami ang nagsisimula sa tennis dahil sa mga world-class players na Pinoy tulad nila Alex Eala at Leylah Fernandez. And MTE is there to help some of those who want to begin in tennis, as we have a program connecting new players to coaches,” he said.

For the rest of the tournament dates, teams from Upper and Lower Class B levels in Men’s, Women’s, and Mixed formats will be competing for the much-coveted tennis trophy and medals.

In 2023, the MTE hosted tennis tournaments in four legs.

“But this year, we hope to make it bigger and larger, with more participants to spread the love of tennis to more people. We hope to partner with more tennis courts all over the Metro Manila area and other nearby venues,” Martinez said.
