All systems go for 2020 ‘Ride for Valor’

It’s all systems go for this weekend’s “Ride for Valor” – an event for motorbike enthusiasts this Sunday, March 8, 2020. The Ride will retrace the historic Bataan Death March from Km. Zero in Mariveles, Bataan until the Capas National Shrine – the site of Camp O’Donnell where all Death March survivors were brought after the brutal walk.

The one-day event will have categories for both teams of 2 and solo riders, and also for big bikes (400c & up) and non-big bikes (below 400 cc). The Ride shall be “Amazing Race” style – there will be several historical stops along the route where riders will be asked to accomplish challenges to test their riding skills, knowledge of riding safety, rules and of course, WWII history.

The event is not a race of time but the winners will be the teams or individuals with the most number of successfully completed challenges. Cash and other prizes await the winners.

Ride for Valor is one of the projects by Philippine Veterans Bank and its partners in promoting the legacy, bravery and heroism of our World War II veterans, in time for Philippine Veterans Week.

“Philippine Veterans Bank and its partners are honored to again hold the Ride for Valor in time for the 78th Anniversary of the Bataan Death March and commemoration of Veterans Week,” said PVB Chairman Dr. Roberto de Ocampo, OBE.

“These events, which challenge runners through gruesome and gritty courses, are our way of remembering, honoring, and emulating the bravery and sacrifices of our World War II veterans during one of the darkest chapters of our country’s history,” he said.

All proceeds raised from Ride for Valor will go to the preservation and putting up historical markers related to the Battle for Bataan, in coordination with PVAO and Bataan Province.

These events are presented by PVB and organized by Without Limits, is also in partnership with DND, PVAO, and the Provincial Governments of Bataan and Pampanga, and the local governments of Mariveles, Bataan and Capas, Tarlac.
