MGP employees plant 1,000 native trees in Masbate
Employees and contractors of the Masbate Gold Project (MGP) planted 1,000 native trees at the Syndicate Waste Dump in Aroroy Masbate during Arbor Day, bringing the total number of trees planted in the area to 81,863 over 41.38 hectares of rehabilitated land.
The seedlings planted include narra, molave, lanete, and malabayabas, all of which are endemic to Philippine soil.
Aside from the tree planting activity, MGP has held several other activities as part of their celebration of the Environmental Month, including a coastal cleanup, mangrove symposium, environmental quiz bees, and was part of a nationwide orchestrated clean-up activity for the Adopt-an-Estero.
The Masbate Gold Project is the largest single investment in the province of Masbate. It is jointly operated by two companies: Filminera Resources Corporation, holder of the mining and surface rights, and PhilGold Processing & Refining Corporation, owner and operator of the processing plant.
