Ferdinand de Chavez Maliwanag passes away
CALAPAN CITY–Ferdinand de Chavez Maliwanag, a respected community leader and cherished family man, passed away peacefully on January 13, 2025, at the age of 69.
Born on August 14, 1955, Ferdinand was the grandson of the late Rustico Maliwanag, a former mayor of Baco, whose legacy of public service inspired him.
Ferdinand, fondly known as Ding to many, upheld this tradition of service as barangay chairman of Barangay Pachoca in Calapan City for 14 years, following three years as a barangay councilor.
The Sangguniang Barangay of Pachoca extends its heartfelt condolences to his family.
“He made significant contributions to the development of our community and was instrumental in fostering unity among the residents,” the Sangguniang Barangay said in a Facebook post.
Ding is survived by his loving children: Anthony Maliwanag, Abigael Maliwanag, Danica Grace Maliwanag Ordinario and her husband Christopher Ordinario, and Marco Fernando Maliwanag and his wife Aiza Giselle Abas Maliwanag.
His remains lie in state at St. Peter Chapel in Calapan City, where family, friends, and former constituents can pay their respects.
Interment will be held on January 18, 2025, at Holy Gardens Calapan Memorial Park.
