State health insurer Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) has frontloaded P72,983,582.39 million to the Quezon Primary Care Provider Network’s (QPCPN) Konsulta Sandbox following its launch in July this year.

This strategic move places the Province of Quezon at the forefront, surpassing other sandbox sites and pilot areas like Bataan, Guimaras, South Cotabato, and Baguio City, making it the first to receive these funds. The allocation is set to empower the province in delivering a comprehensive primary care package and enhanced health services to its residents.

As the pioneer in establishing the Konsulta Primary Care Provider Network (PCPN) among local government units (LGUs) in the country, Quezon Province is set to provide every Quezonian with accessible primary care services and affordable medical solutions through the implementation of Konsultasyong Sulit at Tama, the primary care benefit package.

This inclusive package encompasses free primary care consultations, health screenings, assessments, diagnostic services, and the provision of essential medicines through any Konsulta Package Provider (KPP).

The earmarked funds have been deposited into the Provincial Special Health Fund, ensuring that all residents of Quezon have access to accessible, sufficient, economical, and quality healthcare products and services.

Governor Helen “Doktora” Tan expressed her optimism about the benefits this program would bring to the province’s residents, who can now avail these services at various healthcare facilities throughout the province.

She urged Quezon residents to register at their respective rural health units (RHUs), health centers, or the Quezon Provincial Hospital Network (QPHN), including QPHN-Alabat, QPHN-Bondoc Peninsula (Catanauan), QPHN-Candelaria, QPHN-Claro M. Recto (Infanta), QPHN-Dona Marta (Atimonan), QPHN-Guinayangan, QPHN-Gumaca, QPHN-Magsaysay (Lopez), QPHN-Mauban, QPHN-Polillo, QPHN-Sampaloc, QPHN-San Francisco, QPHN-San Narciso, QPHN-Unisan, and QPHN-Quezon Medical Center, especially for their outpatient medical needs.

Governor Tan emphasized, “In pursuit of universal health care (UHC) and consistent with the objectives of primary health care, the Province of Quezon is committed to undertake vigorous health facilities enhancement, sustainable provision of medicines and supplies, and a stronger health information system.”

She also highlighted that this step is crucial in integrating Quezon’s health systems into a Province-Wide Health System designed to provide continuous, coordinated, and integrated care while addressing the issues of fragmentation in service delivery.

Governor Tan extended her gratitude to President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., along with PhilHealth and the Department of Health, as well as the local chief executives, municipal health officers, and hospital chiefs of the province for their unwavering support in implementing this pivotal program.
