Over 300 hospital staff join fun run for PCMC’s 40th Founding Anniversary
In celebration of the 40th Founding Anniversary of the Philippine Children’s Medical Center (PCMC), more than 300 employees have joined the fun run at the Ninoy Aquino Parks and Wildlife Center in Quezon City.
Eager competitors from five teams – the Director’s Office, Medical Services, Allied Medical and Surgical Services, Nursing Services, and Hospital Support Services wore their team’s color representing their respective departments.
The February 27 fun run titled “Race As One” was spearheaded by the Ways and Means Committee of the PCMC 40th Anniversary Organizing Committee. The title originated from this year’s anniversary theme – PCMC @ 40: Caring as One Family.
To prepare the runners, a Zumba Dance was held at 6:30 a.m. at the PCMC Atrium. Participants then proceeded to the Wildlife Center for the race proper, which started at 7:10 a.m.
The Director’s Office bagged the first prize after completing the required 40 finishers and received Php5,000. The fastest runner from the Allied Medical and Surgical Services received PhP1,500 while the Hospital Support Services, which has the highest number of registrants, received Php1,500.
The fun run sought to promote a healthy lifestyle, and served as a venue to interact with other PCMC employees, and encouraged friendly competition, unity, and camaraderie.
The activity was likewise a fund raising event for the different activities lined up for the whole year to celebrate the hospital’s anniversary. PCMC’s 40th Founding Anniversary will be on April 29, 2020.
Some of the activities lined up for the yearlong celebration are: Round ball Tournament, Lenten Recollection, Children’s Science Fair Exhibit, Children’s Art Contest, Mr. and Ms. PCMC 2020, Employees Program for the Anniversary Celebration, Lecture on Caring with Compassion for Health Teams, Patients and Families, Halloween Children’s Program, and Christmas Program for PCMC Employees.
