The Malampaya Onshore Gas Plant in Batangas City has marked 25 years of zero accident in a display of commitment to safe operations.
The plant has maintained its Goal Zero record since Sept. 28, 2001 through key maintenance works that support the Malampaya Deep Water Gas to Power project.
Goal Zero is part of the commitment of Prime Energy, which leads the Malampaya consortium, to the safety of employees, contractors and the environment.
“Reaching 25 years of Goal Zero is a significant operational achievement, particularly for a facility that has supported continuous gas production, major maintenance activities, and increasingly complex operations over the years,” said Prime Energy president and CEO Donnabel Kuizon Cruz.
The safety commitment was demonstrated during Malampaya’s scheduled maintenance shutdown earlier this year.
The 25-year milestone comes as Malampaya enters a new phase of development.
Prime Energy is advancing the Malampaya Phase 4 project with production projected to start late this year.
Malampaya has supplied indigenous natural gas to power generation facilities in Batangas since 2001, making it a key contributor to the country’s energy security.
“Our priority is to deliver the next phase of Malampaya safely, reliably, and with the same operational discipline that has sustained the project for 25 years,” Cruz said.
