Response to anxiety: Peace of mind is key

01:31 PM March 28, 2026

LIFE COACHES and counsellors around the world have discussed the three types of circumstances that human beings, no matter their station in life, routinely find themselves in. The first, they say, are things we control; the second, things we influence; and third, things over which we have no power.

The thesis is that we cannot control random life events, such as natural calamities, pandemics, wars, and the death of loved ones, but we can influence other living things with our actions.

On the other hand, shaping our reality is something that we can play an active role in. We can choose how we perceive and interpret events, create and manage our own feelings about them and, ultimately, our reactions.

The key is a peaceful mind.
