The Inquirer Foundation, together with AboitizPower and Aboitiz Renewables Inc., recently conducted an industry immersion for the Inquirer Foundation-AboitizPower Scholars.
Through a tour of the MakBan Power Plant facility in Laguna and Batangas, our scholars from the University of the Philippines – Diliman College of Media and Communication were able to witness the full cycle of geothermal power generation — starting with the recovery of steam from underground to turn the turbines, then to the return of hot water to the reservoir to regenerate the source.
Providing these firsthand practical experiences in renewable energy is a vital part of the Foundation’s mission in preparing the next generation of journalists to deliver insightful and responsible reporting, especially on matters of sustainability and their impact on communities.
