PSD@50: Pi Sigma Delta Sorority honors five decades of service to the people

University of the Philippines (UP) – born Pi Sigma Delta Sorority is honoring its five decades of service to the people at its 50th founding anniversary celebration on January 25 at the Bahay ng Alumni of UP Diliman, its mother chapter.
Headlined by representatives from the different decades, Pi Sigma Delta alumnae and resident members will look back at the contribution of the sorority to society, respective campuses and communities in the past 50 years, inspired by its twin principles: Paglingkuran ang Sambayanan nang may Dangal (Serve the People with Dignity) and Paragon of Self Development.
“As we celebrate our golden anniversary, we are reminded of the women who came before us, who lived in a time different from our own, whose promises made and kept have meant a Pi Sigma Delta for all of us to appreciate, to support and to love. From their stories, we hope to draw strength and courage to overcome the challenges of tomorrow — for us to make steady progress towards the realization of our goals as a sorority,” said PSD@50 Core Committee Chair Cecille Garcia.
Serving as Keynote Speaker is former UP Manila student leader, Jo Ann Bueno-Eala, who is currently Head of BPI’s Sustainability Office that oversees the development, management, and reporting of ESG (environment, social and governance) related strategies, programs, and initiatives of the bank.
SAMA SAMA SA SILANG On Dec. 21, 2024, Pi Sigma Delta partnered with Alveo, Silang Unified Natural Farmers Association, Department of Agriculture and Silang local government unit to conduct an outreach program for PWDs of Barangay Inchican in Silang, Cavite.
For its golden anniversary, Pi Sigma Delta has initiated 50 Days of Giving, which aims to support 50 meaningful projects aligned with its twin principles. The sorority has so far implemented a medical-dental and relief mission for a coastal town in Pampanga, goods donation for female inmates in San Mateo, Rizal, Christmas party for underprivileged children in Paranaque, food giving program in Angeles City, outreach program with Silang farmers for PWDs, and a fun run to raise funds for the communities supported by the Bread of Salt Multiplied Initiative.
The Pi Sigma Delta Sorority 50th Anniversary celebration is supported by Converge ICT Solutions, Bank of the Philippine Islands, Fly Ace Corporation, Pi Sigma Fraternity Alumni Association, and sorority sisters from all over the world.
